SSPYSA In-House Program Mission Statement
It is the mission of the SSPYSA, through our in-house soccer program, to encourage confidence, independence, friendship and teamwork. Individual players will learn how to meet new people, be part of a community, show sportsmanship, get physically fit and develop the basic skills and understanding of the game of soccer. The SSPYSA Board of Directors welcomes families of all backgrounds to consider participation in our Association.
Welcome to the S.S.P.Y.S.A. In-House League. This is the non-traveling part of the South St. Paul Youth Soccer Association. Our teams range in age from 4 - 13. Ages 4 - 10 are separated into Boys and Girls teams. Ages 11 - 13 play on co-ed teams.
Our In-House program focuses on building community, developing basic skills and creating an atmosphere of appropriate competition and sportsmanship. All players are assigned a team based on their age and are given equal playing time at all positions.
The cost for the program is $110 for Ages 4 - 5, $130 for Ages 6 to 13 years old.
This registration fee covers a full uniform for the player (jersey, shorts, and socks) MYSA registration, insurance coverage, TeamSnap team access, game referees for ages 6-13, jamboree tournament, & the city field usage fee.
In-House registration closes April 1st - anyone added after will be based on roster capacity & pre-ordered jersey sizes.
Team rosters are built by our competition committee & announced in Mid-April. Practices will be held once or twice each week beginning in May, with at least one game each week through the second week in July.
Our In-House committee makes every effort to distribute players across teams based on their experience so that no team dominates the age group. To that end, the S.S.P.Y.S.A. does not honor requests for specific placement (outside of a coach requesting their own child's team). It is our belief that the community that develops when a team is created enables all members of that team to call on each other for help in carpooling to practices and games. This policy increases the fairness with which our teams can be created and enables players to experience the diversity of different teammates and coaches each year. This exposure to the different styles of coaching, and the varying skill sets of players, helps our members remain open minded about each other and their team dynamics. It helps our soccer community grow with new relationships each summer!
